MEET THE TEAM
Albena (English, German) after graduating Culture Studies, she decided to combine her passions - hiking, performance and cultural discovery and she found her devotion in alternative tourism. She has been working for different travel companies as a tour developer and guide. Every time when she is out there on the road with a group of curious guests it feels like heaven.
Nikolay (English, German) is a talented craftsman, whose real home is on the mountain ridges. His love for nature and interest in history made him spend most of his spare time hiking, walking and embracing the cultural heritage of his homeland. Naturally he started sharing these pleasures with others and guiding tours. He will guide you through the hidden twisting paths and whisper you their stories, while having lunch in a humble local's home.
Elena (English) has a MA degree in Archaeology and works at the National Institute of Archaeology in Sofia. She's a terrain archaeologist since 1995. Elena has participated in many expeditions of archaeological sites from different eras, but her research focus is on adornments in the XV-XVII c. in the Bulgarian, Serbian and Romanian lands. With her encyclopedic knowledge, she is the expert guide for our archeological tours, who will transfer you into the past worlds of the ancient Thracians and the medieval kingdoms.
Lyubomir (English, German) is a graduated sociologist (BA) and a historian of Eastern and Southeastern Europe (MA). He is also an University lecturer and a PhD in Cultural history of Communism and Infrastructure. Lyubomir is passionate about setting the focus to “the City” through the lens of the people, their everyday life and culture, which made that “City” possible at all. He will go beyond the touristic surface and reveal the hidden interconnections between the scattered fragments of streets, people, technology and culture. Something what neither the Bulgarians, nor the Bulgarian history textbooks would like to confront and deal with. His deep anthropological approach is a pure delight for the educated traveller.
Aglaya (English, German, Russian, Serbo-Croatian) graduated MA in Slavic linguistics with Russian and Serbo-Croatian in the University of Giessen, Germany. Aside of being a lecturer in Bulgarian language, her main interests are in regional and minority Languages, their respective culture and folklore. She is engaged in ecological and human rights initiatives. Aglaya used to sing for over 10 years in the famous Bulgarian National Radio Children's Choir and continues to practice her hobby. Her passion for environment, languages, folklore and music can make even the most skeptical ones open their senses to the deep interrelations between nature and communities, their languages, folklore singing and local practices.
Dimo (English, German, Russian) has a degree in economics, which he never intended to use since he discovered early enough his real passion - Bulgarian folklore dances. He founded a school for authentic Bulgarian dances, which initiates workshops and representations of traditional rituals. Nevertheless he is also a mountaineer and a sports orientation competitor, making him live an adventurous and joyful life, sometimes literally on the edge.
Georgi (English) is the ultimate outdoor man and our adventure specialist. Following his passion, you could often see him in the wild playing with his mountain bike, riding ski, kitesurfing or just trekking and taking magnificent shots with his digital camera.
Martin (English, French, Italian) did a BA in Philosophy and an MA in Cultural Anthropology. A subsequent attempt at a PhD failed due, among other things, to too much travelling. Sophisticated and extremely knowledgeable, he will take you to a cultural journey you will never forget.
